Privacy Policy
Baby Talkie ("the app", "we", "us") is a private baby monitor that connects two of your own devices over your local Wi‑Fi network. This policy explains, plainly, what data the app uses and — importantly — what it does not collect.
Information we do not collect
We do not operate servers that receive your data, and we do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind. Specifically, we do not collect, store, sell, or share:
- The live audio or video of your child or home.
- Recordings — the app does not record audio or video to any server, and by default holds media only in temporary memory on your devices.
- Your name, email, contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers.
- Usage analytics or behavioural profiles.
Information that stays on your devices
To function, the app processes some information locally on your devices, where it remains under your control:
- Live audio and video — the microphone, and the camera when you turn video on, are captured on the Baby Unit and streamed, encrypted, only to your paired Parent Unit over your local network. This live audio and video is not sent to us and is not recorded to any server; by default it exists only as it passes between your two devices.
- Apple Watch — if you use the optional Watch app, it can mirror monitoring status from your iPhone, and — only after you explicitly approve it on the Parent iPhone — capture audio on the watch microphone in "Baby Unit — Audio Only" mode. That audio travels solely between your own watch and your own paired iPhone over Apple's encrypted device‑to‑device channel, while the watch app is open. It is never sent to us and never recorded to any server.
- Remote camera controls — night mode and the night‑light (torch) level you set on the Parent Unit are sent as small encrypted control messages to your own Baby Unit. They contain no audio, video, or personal data.
- Pairing information — a device key and a single‑use pairing token, used to establish the encrypted connection. These are stored securely on your device (and in the device Keychain), not on any server.
- Your settings — such as sound sensitivity and language — stored on your device.
Device permissions
- Microphone — to listen to the room and to talk back. Required for monitoring.
- Camera — optional, for QR‑code pairing and for live video monitoring when you choose to turn it on. Video is foreground‑only (it pauses if the Baby Unit's screen locks or the app goes to the background).
- Local Network — to discover and connect your two devices on the same Wi‑Fi.
- Notifications — optional, to alert you to sound or a dropped connection.
You can review or revoke any of these at any time in the iOS Settings app.
Children's privacy
Baby Talkie is a tool for parents and caregivers; it is not directed to children and is not marketed to them. Because it can transmit a child's audio or video between your own devices, we have designed it so that this content never reaches us: there is no cloud upload and no server that could store a minor's data. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information (which our architecture is designed to prevent), please contact us and we will address it.
Security
Connections between the Baby Unit and Parent Unit are encrypted, and pairing is authenticated with a code that only appears on the Baby Unit's screen. Because there is no central server, there is no central database of your media to be breached.
Purchases and subscriptions
Core monitoring and the sound and connection alerts are free. Baby Talkie also offers an optional Premium auto‑renewable subscription for secondary features. Purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store: we never see or receive your card number, billing address, or Apple Account password. The app only checks your subscription entitlement with Apple to unlock Premium features — there is no account on our side, and we store no payment information. You can manage or cancel a subscription anytime in your Apple Account settings.
Third parties
The app does not include third‑party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and does not share data with third parties. If you download the app or subscribe, Apple processes your download and any purchase under Apple's own privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change (for example, if an optional remote‑monitoring feature that uses a server is introduced), we will update this policy and the in‑app disclosures before that feature is enabled.
